I’ve been waiting for this day since I bought this thing off the lot of a sketchy car dealership a few years ago.

Incredibly, t housands of miles between gigs and on roadtrips throughout the Midwest and central United States aligned mathematically perfectly so that I pulled into my girlfriend’s driveway early this morning at exactly 200,000 miles.

I’ve got a long-form piece in the works but for now, the car is lightly modded and has loads of stories to tell. What do you want to know about running a high mileage GTI? AMA

Nice! It looks new.

Have you had any  problems with it?

Knock on wood, most of the issues throughout my ownership have been minor. I have only needed a tow once because a fuel line dry rotted and emptied my fuel tank on the street outside my friend’s house.

The most expensive fix is still probably the A/C compressor/condenser that had to be replaced right after I bought the thing.

Woah! That's the highest miles I've seen on a Mk5. Usually they blow up right around 150k.
